Hi, I'm Catherine, speech pathologist and owner and founder of Sonda Health.
Why “Sonda”?
Our name is inspired by the concept of “sonder”, which relates to the idea that every person we meet is living a life just as rich, complex and meaningful as our own.
I wanted to bring that idea into my practice because I believe that every person has a story worth understanding, and I want to embed that belief into everything that we do, ensuring that we provide thoughtful, person-centred services that are tailored and meaningful to people's goals, experiences and life.
Why telehealth?
Well, telehealth was launched on me very quickly during the COVID period and I quickly realised just how powerful it is. Clients who I'd only ever seen in my office were able to show me more about themselves, giving me the chance to step into their world and, I guess, bring more practical goals to the fore.
I've worked with adults and children via telehealth for many years now, and I know it works and that the concept is here to stay. Since my early telehealth days I've been able to work with people from around Australia, including people in rural and remote areas, as well as clients overseas who can't otherwise access services.
How does an assessment work?
We start by ensuring that we have a detailed background history so that we can begin to plan the approach. Then we get to know you. We complete a comprehensive assessment to ensure that we understand all of your strengths and your areas for improvement, as well as your goals for therapy.
Therapy is then booked as needed and as agreed upon by you. We will do our very best to find a time and session frequency that works for you.
Do I need a GP referral?
You can refer yourself, a loved one or a client by following the link on our website. No doctor's referral is required to access this service.
